## Changes

- Implement length algorithm entirely in the header.

## History
- In the past if an HLSL intrinsic lowered to either a spirv op code or
a DXIL opcode we represented it with intrinsics

## Why we are moving away?
- To make HLSL apis more portable the team decided that it makes sense
for some intrinsics to be defined only in the header.
- Since there tends to be more SPIRV opcodes than DXIL opcodes the plan
is to support SPIRV opcodes either with target specific builtins or via
pattern matching.

7a76110096 [HLSL][SPIR-V] implement SV_GroupID semantic lowering (#121521)
The HLSL SV_GroupID semantic attribute is lowered into
@llvm.spv.group.id intrinsic in LLVM IR for SPIR-V target.

In the SPIR-V backend, this is now translated to a `WorkgroupId` builtin
variable.

Fixes #118700 which's a follow-up work to #70120

7a4b3b4927 [HLSL] Add Load(int) method on structured buffers (#120663)
Adds `T Load(int)` method on `StructuredBuffer`, `RWStructuredBuffer`
and `RasterizerOrderedStructuredBuffer`.

Uses the existing `addLoadMethods` in HLSLExternalSemalSource so most of
this change is just tests.

aa07f92210 [DirectX][SPIRV] Consistent names for HLSL resource intrinsics (#120466)
Rename HLSL resource-related intrinsics to be consistent with the naming
conventions discussed in [wg-hlsl:0014].

This is an entirely mechanical change, consisting of the following

52b07d971c [HLSL] Fix call convention mismatch for ctor/dtor (#118651)
Before this patch, there was a calling-convention mismatch between the
constructors and the actual call emitted for the entrypoint wrapper.

Such mismatch causes the InstCombine pass to replace this call with an
`unreachable`, breaking the whole function.

951a284fdf [HLSL] Implement SV_GroupThreadId semantic (#117781)
Support HLSL SV_GroupThreadId attribute.

For `directx` target, translate it into `dx.thread.id.in.group` in clang
codeGen and lower `dx.thread.id.in.group` to `dx.op.threadIdInGroup` in
LLVM DirectX backend.

For `spir-v` target, translate it into `spv.thread.id.in.group` in clang
codeGen and lower `spv.thread.id.in.group` to a `LocalInvocationId`
builtin variable in LLVM SPIR-V backend.

1a5e18a492 [HLSL] Do not print details in IR for target extension types (#115971)
This PR changes how target extension types are printed when they are
emitted as IR.
This prevents repetitive phrases like "struct = type {...}" from being
repeated over and over in the outputted IR.
Additionally, it should allow opt to not crash when parsing the DXIL
output.

274637d7e5 [HLSL] Implement Append and Consume methods on Append/ConsumeStructuredBuffer (#118536)
The methods are using existing clang builtins
`__builtin_hlsl_buffer_update_counter` and
`__builtin_hlsl_resource_getpointer` to update the buffer counter and
then load or store the value.

This is the first one in a series of PRs adding the requirements for
#58654

This PR adds `ByteAddressBuffer`, `RWByteAddressBuffer ` and
`RasterizerOrderedByteAddressBuffer ` definitions as well as their
handle lowering to `dx.RawBuffer`.

bd92e46204 [HLSL] Implement RWBuffer::operator[] via __builtin_hlsl_resource_getpointer (#117017)
This introduces `__builtin_hlsl_resource_getpointer`, which lowers to
`llvm.dx.resource.getpointer` and is used to implement indexing into
resources.

This will only work through the backend for typed buffers at this point,
but the changes to structured buffers should be correct as far as the
frontend is concerned.

Note: We probably want this to return a reference in the HLSL device
address space, but for now we're just using address space 0. Creating a
device address space and updating this code can be done later as
necessary.

that enables adding methods to builtin types using builder pattern like
this:

bb88fd171a [DirectX] Calculate resource binding offsets using the lower bound (#117303)
In the DXIL CreateHandle and CreateHandleFromBinding ops, resource
bindings are
indexed from the beginning of the binding space, not from the binding
itself.
Translate from an index into the binding to one from the beginning of
the space
when lowering to these operations.

d413335ccf [HLSL] Add Append/ConsumeStructuredBuffer definitions to HLSLExternalSemaSource (#113643)
Adds `AppendStructuredBuffer` and `ConsumeStructuredBuffer` definition
to HLSLExternalSemaSource. Adds separate tests for the AST shape and
element types, and adds constructor/handle.fromBinding test case to
shared test file for structured buffers.

These buffers do not have any subscript operators. Append and Consume
methods will be added later in llvm/llvm-project#112968.

74d8f3952c [HLSL] Remove old resource annotations for UAVs and SRVs (#114139)
UAVs and SRVs have already been converted to use LLVM target types and
we can disable generating of the !hlsl.uavs and !hlsl.srvs! annotations.
This will enable adding tests for structured buffers with user defined
types that this old resource annotations code does not handle (it
crashes).

Inlining currently assumes that either all function use controled
convergence or none of them do. This is why we need to have the entry
point wrapper use controled convergence.

af872d5473 [HLSL] Add RWStructuredBuffer definition to HLSLExternalSemaSource (#113477)
Add tests for RWStructuredBuffer class definition. Use shared test files
for all structured buffers' constructor and subscript tests. Keep AST
and element-type tests separate for each buffer type because they longer
and failures would be harder to match.

7dbfa7b981 [HLSL] Add handle initialization for simple resource declarations (#111207)
Adds `@_init_resource_bindings()` function to module initialization that
includes `handle.fromBinding` intrinsic calls for simple resource
declarations. Arrays of resources or resources inside user defined types
are not supported yet.

While this unblocks our progress on [Compile a runnable shader from
clang](https://github.com/llvm/wg-hlsl/issues/7) milestone, this is
probably not the way we would like to handle resource binding
initialization going forward. Ideally, it should be done via the
resource class constructors in order to support dynamic resource binding
or unbounded arrays if resources.

Depends on PRs #110327 and #111203.

9d98acb196 Renormalize line endings whitespace only after dccebddb3b
Line ending policies were changed in the parent, dccebddb3b. To make
it easier to resolve downstream merge conflicts after line-ending
policies are adjusted this is a separate whitespace-only commit. If you
have merge conflicts as a result, you can simply `git add --renormalize
-u && git merge --continue` or `git add --renormalize -u && git rebase
--continue` - depending on your workflow.

2c8ecb3272 [HLSL][SPIRV] Use Spirv target codegen (#112573)
When the arch in the triple in "spirv", the default target codegen is
currently used. We should be using the spir-v target codegen. This will
be used to have SPIR-V specific lowering of the HLSL types.
