The DWARF 5 specification says that:
> The name index must contain an entry for each debugging information
entry that
> defines a named [...] label [...].
The verifier currently verifies this, but the AsmPrinter does not add
entries for TAG_labels in debug_names. This patch addresses the issue by
ensuring we add labels in the accelerator tables once we have a fully
completed DIE for the TAG_label entry.
We also respect the spec as follows:
> DW_TAG_label debugging information entries without an address
attribute
> (DW_AT_low_pc, DW_AT_high_pc, DW_AT_ranges, or DW_AT_entry_pc) are
excluded.
The effect of this on the size of accelerator tables is minimal, as
TAG_labels are usually created by C/C++ labels (see example in test),
which are typically paired with "goto" statements.
After performing sink-and-fold over a COPY, the original instruction is
replaced with one that produces its output in the destination of the
copy. Its value is still available (in a hard register), so if there are
debug instructions which refer to the (now deleted) virtual register
they could be updated to refer to the hard register, in principle.
However, it's not clear how to do that, moreover in some cases the debug
instructions may need to be replicated proportionally to the number of
the COPY instructions replaced and in some extreme cases we can end up
with quadratic increase in the number of debug instructions, e.g:
int f(int);
void g(int x) {
int y = x + 1;
int t0 = y;
f(t0);
int t1 = y;
f(t1);
}
When generating the assembly code for AIX/XCOFF, the .file pseudo-op
needs to be emitted first, before any csects are generated. Otherwise,
information such as the embedded command line will be associated with
part of the object file rather than the entire object file.
The base-type field of a DICompositeType is optional in the IR syntax,
however it makes no sense to have an array of an unspecified type. Such
debug-info would be meaningless, and the added test crashes otherwise
(see #70787). Thus, add a verifier check to reject such ill-formed debug
info metadata. Test produced by Christian Ulmann.

Teach SelectionDAG::salvageDebugInfo() to salvage debug information for
ADD nodes where the RHS is non-constant.
In the first try, the test case used the MIR output that was produced by
using -stop-before=sparc-isel. Running -start-before=sparc-isel on that
output resulted in the following verifier error with EXPENSIVE_CHECKS:
"Function has NoVRegs property but there are VReg operands".
In this re-attempt the test case has been rewritten to a .ll test by
extracting the IR from the original MIR file. The test still starts
before sparc-isel.

Computing the symbol size as the gap between sorted symbols are not
right for XCOFF.
For XCOFF, the size info is stored in aux symbol and can be got from
existing XCOFF interface `getSymbolSize()`.
This patch changes XCOFFObjectFile to call this API to get sizes for
symbols.
Split a virtual register with hint may generate COPY instructions in
multiple cold basic blocks, and increase code size. So disable this
split when the function is optimized for size.
For now, data location expression is hard coded to little endian. We are
going to support sanitizers on AIX which is big endian. Support big
endian too in the data location expression parser of llvm-symbolizer.

FastISel currently drops dbg.values targeting allocas. It may seem
surprising that a simple case would fail to be lowered, but dbg.values
targeting allocas are not common; we usually have dbg.declares doing
that, and those are handled by the common code between FastISel and
SelectionDAGISel.
This patch addresses the issue by querying the static alloca map from
FuncInfo. If we have a frame index for it, we create a DBG_VALUE
intrinsic from it.

This reverts commit f8aab289b5.
The `S_INLINEES` debug symbol is used to record all the functions that
are directly inlined within the current function (nested inlining is
ignored).
This change implements support for emitting the `S_INLINEES` debug
symbol in LLVM, and cleans up how the `S_INLINEES` and `S_CALLEES` debug
symbols are dumped.
If a virtual register is not assigned preferred physical register, it means some
COPY instructions will be changed to real register move instructions. In this
case we can try to split the virtual register in colder blocks, if success, the
original COPY instructions can be deleted, and the new COPY instructions in
colder blocks will be generated as register move instructions. It results in
fewer dynamic register move instructions executed.
The new test case split-reg-with-hint.ll gives an example, the hot path contains
24 instructions without this patch, now it is only 4 instructions with this
patch.

Revision c383f4d655 enabled using variadic-form debug values to represent
single-location, non-stack-value debug values, and a further patch made all
DBG_INSTR_REFs use variadic form. Not all code paths were updated correctly to
handle the new syntax however, with entry values in still expecting an expression
that begins exactly DW_OP_LLVM_entry_value, 1.
A function already exists to select non-variadic-like expressions; this patch
adds an extra function to cheaply simplify such cases to non-variadic form, which
we use prior to any entry-value processing to put DBG_INSTR_REFs and DBG_VALUEs
down the same code path. We also use it for a few DIExpression functions that
check for whether the first element(s) of a DIExpression match a particular
pattern, so that they will return the same result for
DIExpression(DW_OP_LLVM_arg, 0, <ops>) as for DIExpression(<ops>).

Fixes#65004 by trimming assignments from out of bounds stores (out of bounds
of either the base variable or the backing alloca). If there's no overlap at
all or the out of bounds access starts at a negative offset from the alloca,
the assignment is simply skipped.
The AsmPrinter currently assumes that a Debug Variable will have all of its
fragments with the same "kind" of location (i.e. all in the stack or all in
entry values). This is not enforced by the verifier, so it needs to be handled
properly. Until we do so, we conservatively drop one of the fragments.

Querying the debug_str_offsets section requires parsing the top level DIE of the
CU (as well as the section itself); the current getter, however, assumes this is
done elsewhere. This patch changes the getter behavior to match what is done in
other getter methods (e.g. `getCompilationDir` or `getVariableForAddress`), in
other words, `extractDIEsIfNeeded` is now called prior to returning the
debug_str_offsets contributions for the Unit.
One way in which this bug manifested is when `dwarfdump --debug-str-offsets` is
invoked: because the DIEs are never parsed, we incorrectly print an empty
section (with no warnings or errors).

Issue Details:
When building up line information for CodeView debug info, LLVM attempts to gather the "range" of instructions within a function as these are printed together in a single record. If there is an inlined function, then those lines are attributed to the original function to enable generating `S_INLINESITE` records. However, this thus requires there to be instructions from the inlining function after the inlined function otherwise the instruction range would not include the inlined function.

The CodeView `S_ARMSWITCHTABLE` debug symbol is used to describe the layout of a jump table, it contains the following information:

* The address of the jump table.
* The "base" address that the values in the jump table are relative to.
* The type of each entry (absolute pointer, a relative integer, a relative integer that is shifted).

With D149881, we converted EntryValue MachineFunction table entries into
`DbgVariables` initialized by a "DbgValue" intrinsic, which can only handle a
single, non-fragment DIExpression. However, it is desirable to handle variables
with multiple fragments and DIExpressions.
To do this, we expand the `DbgVariable` class to handle the EntryValue case.
This class can already operate under three different "modes" (stack slot,
unchanging location described by a dbg value, changing location described by a
loc list). A fourth case is added as a separate class entirely, but a subsequent
patch should redesign `DbgVariable` with four subclasses in order to make the
code more readable.
This patch also exposed a bug in the `beginEntryValueExpression` function, which
was not initializing the `LocationFlags` properly. Note how the
`finalizeEntryValue` function resets that flag. We fix this bug here, as testing
this changing in isolation would be tricky.

When we convert an EntryValue dbg.declare into an entry of the MF side table, we
currently copy its DIExpression as is, and rely on subsequent layers to "know"
that this expression is implicitly indirect. This is bad because it adds an
implicit assumption to the IR representation, and requires subsequent layers to
know about this assumption. This also limits the reusability of this table:
what if, in the future, we want to use this table for dbg.values?
This patch changes existing behavior so that the entities converting
dbg_declares explicitly add an OP_deref when converting EntryValue dbg.declares.

D52985/D57677 added a .gcc_except_table workaround, but the new behavior

catch (int) { return 1; }

.uleb128 ($cst_end0)-($cst_begin0) // bit 0 is not forced to 1
.uleb128 ($func_begin0)-($func_begin0) // bit 0 is not forced to 1
```
I have inspected `.gcc_except_table` output by `mipsel-linux-gnu-gcc -mmicromips -c a.cc`.
The `.uleb128` values are not forced to set the least significant bit.
In addition, D57677's adjustment (even->odd) to CodeGen/Mips/micromips-b-range.ll is wrong.
PC-relative `.long func - .` values will differ from GNU assembler as well.
