ConstString can be implicitly converted into a llvm::StringRef. This is
very useful in many places, but it also hides places where we are
creating a ConstString only to use it as a StringRef for the entire
lifespan of the ConstString object.
I locally removed the implicit conversion and found some of the places we
were doing this.

When LLDB fails to pull file from a package directory due to security
constraint, user needs to set the package name to
'platform.plugin.remote-android.package-name' property to run shell commands
as the package user. (e.g. to get file with 'cat' and 'dd').

In Android API level 23 and above, dynamic loader is able to load .so file
directly from APK, which is zip file.

The .so file is page aligned and uncompressed, so
ObjectFileELF::GetModuleSpecifications works with .so file offset and size
directly from zip file without extracting it. (D152757)
GDBRemoteCommunicationServerCommon::GetModuleInfo returns a module spec to LLDB
with "zip_path!/so_path" file spec, which is passed through from Android
dynamic loader, and the .so file offset and size.
PlatformAndroid::DownloadModuleSlice uses 'shell dd' to download the .so file
slice from the zip file with the .so file offset and size.

These don't really need to be in ConstStrings. It's nice that comparing
ConstStrings is fast (just a pointer comparison) but the cost of
creating the ConstString usually already includes the cost of doing a
StringRef comparison anyway, so this is just extra work and extra memory
consumption for basically no benefit.

This patch is preparatory work for Scripted Platform support and does
multiple things:
First, it introduces new options for the `platform select` command and
`SBPlatform::Create` API, to hold a reference to the debugger object,
the name of the python script managing the Scripted Platform and a
structured data dictionary that the user can use to pass arbitrary data.
Then, it updates the various `Create` and `GetOrCreate` methods for
the `Platform` and `PlatformList` classes to pass down the new parameter
to the `Platform::CreateInstance` callbacks.
Finally, it updates every callback to reflect these changes.

The local ports for `platform connect` and `attach` were always random, this allows the user to configure them.
This is useful for debugging a truly remote android (when the android in question is connected to a remote server).

The FileSpec APIs allow users to modify instance variables directly by getting a non const reference to the directory and filename instance variables. This makes it impossible to control all of the times the FileSpec object is modified so we can clear cached member variables like m_resolved and with an upcoming patch caching if the file is relative or absolute. This patch modifies the APIs of FileSpec so no one can modify the directory or filename instance variables directly by adding set accessors and by removing the get accessors that are non const.
Many clients were using FileSpec::GetCString(...) which returned a unique C string from a ConstString'ified version of the result of GetPath() which returned a std::string. This caused many locations to use this convenient function incorrectly and could cause many strings to be added to the constant string pool that didn't need to. Most clients were converted to using FileSpec::GetPath().c_str() when possible. Other clients were modified to use the newly renamed version of this function which returns an actualy ConstString:
ConstString FileSpec::GetPathAsConstString(bool denormalize = true) const;
This avoids the issue where people were getting an already uniqued "const char *" that came from a ConstString only to put the "const char *" back into a "ConstString" object. By returning the ConstString instead of a "const char *" clients can be more efficient with the result.
The patch:
- Removes the non const GetDirectory() and GetFilename() get accessors
- Adds set accessors to replace the above functions: SetDirectory() and SetFilename().
- Adds ClearDirectory() and ClearFilename() to replace usage of the FileSpec::GetDirectory().Clear()/FileSpec::GetFilename().Clear() call sites
- Fixed all incorrect usage of FileSpec::GetCString() to use FileSpec::GetPath().c_str() where appropriate, and updated other call sites that wanted a ConstString to use the newly returned ConstString appropriately and efficiently.

This patch changes the return value of Platform::GetName() to a
StringRef, and uses the opportunity (compile errors) to change some
callsites to use GetPluginName() instead. The two methods still remain
hardwired to return the same thing, but this will change once the ideas

Most of our code was including Log.h even though that is not where the
"lldb" log channel is defined (Log.h defines the generic logging
infrastructure). This worked because Log.h included Logging.h, even
though it should.
After the recent refactor, it became impossible the two files include
each other in this direction (the opposite inclusion is needed), so this
patch removes the workaround that was put in place and cleans up all
files to include the right thing. It also renames the file to LLDBLog to
better reflect its purpose.
Previously we would persist the flags indicating whether the remote side
supports a particular feature across reconnects, which is obviously not
a good idea.
I implement the clearing by nuking (its the only way to be sure :) the
entire GDBRemoteCommunication object in the disconnect operation and
creating a new one upon connection. This allows us to maintain a nice
invariant that the GDBRemoteCommunication object (which is now a
pointer) exists only if it is connected. The downside to that is that a
lot of functions now needs to check the validity of the pointer instead
of blindly accessing the object.
The process communication does not suffer from the same issue because we
always destroy the entire Process object for a relaunch.

DataEncoder was previously made to modify data within an existing buffer. As the code progressed, new clients started using DataEncoder to create binary data. In these cases the use of this class was possibly, but only if you knew exactly how large your buffer would be ahead of time. This patchs adds the ability for DataEncoder to own a buffer that can be dynamically resized as data is appended to the buffer.
Change in this patch:
- Allow a DataEncoder object to be created that owns a DataBufferHeap object that can dynamically grow as data is appended
- Add new methods that start with "Append" to append data to the buffer and grow it as needed
- Adds full testing of the API to assure modifications don't regress any functionality
- Has two constructors: one that uses caller owned data and one that creates an object with object owned data
- "Append" methods only work if the object owns it own data
- Removes the ability to specify a shared memory buffer as no one was using this functionality. This allows us to switch to a case where the object owns its own data in a DataBufferHeap that can be resized as data is added
"Put" methods work on both caller and object owned data.
"Append" methods work on only object owned data where we can grow the buffer. These methods will return false if called on a DataEncoder object that has caller owned data.
The main reason for these modifications is to be able to use the DateEncoder objects instead of llvm::gsym::FileWriter in https://reviews.llvm.org/D113789. This patch wants to add the ability to create symbol table caching to LLDB and the code needs to build binary caches and save them to disk.

There is no reason why this function should be returning a ConstString.
While modifying these files, I also fixed several instances where
GetPluginName and GetPluginNameStatic were returning different strings.
I am not changing the return type of GetPluginNameStatic in this patch, as that
would necessitate additional changes, and this patch is big enough as it is.

This is a polymorphic class, copying it is a bad idea.
This was not a problem because most classes inheriting from it were
deleting their copy operations themselves. However, this enables us to
delete those explicit deletions, and ensure noone forgets to add them in
the future.
Summary:
On Android, this method gets called twice: first when establishing
a host-server connection, then when attaching to a process id.
Each call takes several seconds to finish (especially slower on Windows)
and eliminating the call for the typical case improves latency significantly.

Summary:
When adb client connects to adb server, or when lldb connects to
lldb server on Android device, IPv6 does not work (at least on
Windows it does not work).
For Android on Windows, each IPv6 failure (fallback-to-IPv4) wastes
2 seconds, and since this is called 5 times when attaching, LLDB
is wasting 10 seconds. This CL brings a big improvement to attach latency.

consistent because things get moved around or copy/pasted. This patch

This is how it should've been and brings it more in line with
std::string_view. There should be no functional change here.
This is mostly mechanical from a custom clang-tidy check, with a lot of
manual fixups. It uncovers a lot of minor inefficiencies.
This doesn't actually modify StringRef yet, I'll do that in a follow-up.

A *.cpp file header in LLDB (and in LLDB) should like this:

However in LLDB most of our source files have arbitrary changes to this format and
these changes are spreading through LLDB as folks usually just use the existing
source files as templates for their new files (most notably the unnecessary
editor language indicator `-*- C++ -*-` is spreading and in every review
someone is pointing out that this is wrong, resulting in people pointing out that this
is done in the same way in other files).
This patch removes most of these inconsistencies including the editor language indicators,
all the different missing/additional '-' characters, files that center the file name, missing
trailing `===//` (mostly caused by clang-format breaking the line).

This patch removes the size_t return value and the append parameter
from the remainder of the Find.* functions in LLDB's internal API. As
in the previous patches, this is motivated by the fact that these
parameters aren't really used, and in the case of the append parameter
were frequently implemented incorrectly.

This patch replaces explicit calls to log::Printf with the new LLDB_LOGF
macro. The macro is similar to LLDB_LOG but supports printf-style format
strings, instead of formatv-style format strings.
So instead of writing:
if (log)
log->Printf("%s\n", str);
You'd write:
LLDB_LOG(log, "%s\n", str);
This change was done mechanically with the command below. I replaced the
spurious if-checks with vim, since I know how to do multi-line
replacements with it.
